How do I enter?

We are no longer accepting submissions as the entry period ended September 30th and winners have been notified

What is Posterous?

Posterous is the easiest way for college students to share thoughts, videos, photos with their friends. Here's how it works.

  • You send us your pictures, videos or files from anywhere - the web, email, or your mobile.
  • We'll turn your content into a great looking web page. Pick from one of our themes or create your own custom look.
  • We'll automatically share your content with your friends, club members or family.
  • Sign up or send an email to post@posterous.com to get started. It's free.

What do I have to do if I am selected?

  • Submit proof that you are enrolled at your university as an undergraduate or graduate student.
  • Post on Posterous 4-5 times a week during the school year.
  • Provide monthly feedback to our college blogging team.

What are the criteria?

Posterous co-founders Garry Tan and Sachin Agarwal will review and choose the winners based on the following criteria:

  • Substance of your submission: What ideas do you have for getting others excited about mobile blogging? Why are you uniquely qualified to be a Posterous Mobilizer?
  • Creativity of your submission: Mobile blogging is a new phenomenon that opens up new ways to share content - let your creativity shine through in your submission.
  • A blogging past: If you are going to be evangelizing mobile blogging, we need to see that blogging is part of your makeup.

Questions? Answers.

What if I already have an iPhone 4?
Don't worry. We'll send you a gift certificate for an equivalent amount at the Apple store.

I don't have a Posterous site - can I still enter?
Yes - if you blog on another platform, just point us that way in your submission. If you get selected, you will need to use Posterous for your mobile blog.

How will I network with other bloggers?
You'll be featured on our yet-to-be launched college blogger channel and you'll have direct access to the Posterous Mobilizers and other prominent bloggers.

How long am I committing to do this?
It's a year-long term, ending at the beginning of the summer in 2011.

What if I lose the phone or something comes up during the year and I can't do it anymore?
We are reasonable people and understand that sh*t happens...but we're not in the business of giving away free phones. We plan to treat each case individually and figure out something that makes sense for everyone.

Which colleges are included?
We do not have a pre-selected list of colleges and the only limit is that your campus has to be in the US. We don't care how big your college is - we are looking for passionate, intelligent, social-media savvy students regardless of location.

When can I enter?
Entries can be submitted from September 8th to September 30th.

When are you choosing the Mobilizers?
All Mobilizers will be informed by email by October 1st.

When does the program start?
The fall program starts October 4th and runs through the end of your school year.

Does my blog have to be about my college?
No, your blog can be about anything that interests you. We want it to reflect what's happening in your life right now - whether it's at school or not.

Posting 4-5 days a week sounds like too much work!
We agree that 4-5 full length posts would be a big requirement. We're not looking to overload you with work, and we'll definitely cut you slack around mid-terms and finals. A blog post can be a photo, short video or a few paragraphs about whatever interests you.

@Ashleigh While it certainly helps if you've blogged before, it's not a requirement. In your submission, just 'wow' us with your ideas for what you'd like to share and the perspective you can bring.

@Tom, I am not an Posterous employee but common sense tells me that you can do all that, but I think they want to see you also post from your iPhone (after all, they are giving you a means to do it on the go in addition to being at your PC)

@ Rich Pearson I just wanted to know because there are some times when its just easier to post from the desktop because the iPhone won't send videos and pics in the same message.

Shannon Mason said...
@Abdelrahman actually that's a cool idea, but they only have 8 days left so no point in changing the terms. If it were up to me, I'd say college bound high school seniors would be eligible ;) maybe the posting gods at Posterous might consider that for their next project.
